Idaho Whitewater Rafting

Idaho raft tripsWhitewater rafting trips in Idaho and eastern Oregon are world class vacations. Hughes River Expeditions, Inc. outfits rafting trips on the legendary Snake River in Hells Canyon; Idaho's famous Middle Fork of the Salmon River; the big Salmon River Canyon; and eastern Oregon's beautiful Wallowa and Grande Ronde Rivers.

The Snake River creates the Idaho-Oregon border, and Hells Canyon is renowned as America's deepest canyon. The Snake River through Hells Canyon is famous for powerful rapids, big canyonlands, and more pioneer and American Indian cultural sites than any other river in the region. Central Idaho's Middle Fork of the Salmon River flows through the huge Frank Church - River of No Return Wilderness. The crystal clear Middle Fork is the longest undammed, unroaded, and non-motorized river in the Continental U.S., and features "blue ribbon" fly fishing, challenging whitewater rapids, great camps, and natural hot springs. The Middle Fork was selected as one of the original Wild & Scenic Rivers in 1968. The Salmon River Canyon is the largest undammed river in the lower 48 states. Salmon River features pristine riparian areas, huge pure white sand bar camps, roller coaster rapids, and spectacular basalt canyonlands. Rafting and kayaking are a delight on the swift waters of eastern Oregon's Wallowa and Grande Ronde Rivers. Timbered basalt canyonlands and beautiful camps are Wallowa-Grande Ronde highlights. If you are planning a family rafting trip, visit our Family Trips page. Whitewater rafting trips make a terrific family vacation.

In addition to rafting and kayaking, there is time for fishing, hiking, exploring long abandoned cabins, mines, and American Indian cultural sites, or simply enjoying a comfortable riverside camp. We are committed to ecologically sound camping, and our appreciation for this country is matched by the care we show for it.whitewater raft trips in Idaho
